Our Commitment & Principles

A lot of things have changed for M & L Industries during the past 64 Years of Business… Products, Employees, Locations and Service, but during that time one company principle has remained the same: To Meet or Exceed the Customer’s Needs.

“We are committed to, above all else at M & L Industries, that our customers be treated as a neighbor and a friend,” says Marvin Marmande Sr., and that philosophy and commitment is carried on today in his son Steven. “We have never taken our focus off our customers because they are the ones for the past 65 years that have made M & L Industries so successful. Our customers can trust us to be there when they need us.” We strive for our customers to feel relaxed and welcomed as soon as they step foot in our dealership.

“Our original principles of honesty, providing service that’s second to none and going beyond all limits to satisfy our customer’s needs are as strong today as they were in 1953. Those principles will continue well into the future,” said Steve Marmande, President. “We’re proud of our employees and their dedication to our customers. We have always had an extremely low turnover amongst our employees and they are a key component to our success through all of these years.” The Marmande’s echo the belief that “Our customers are our neighbors and friends and we want them treated as such. Like a family, our company takes great pride in the fact that our customers can trust us to be there when they need us. All of our officers and employees have the willingness to go beyond the sale to assure customer satisfaction. We want our customers to walk away with a positive experience.”

Our Start

In the early 1950’s, two young men had a dream to start a tractor dealership in Houma, a small Louisiana town. At the time, no one could have predicted this small farm machinery business would become one of the most successful equipment dealerships in Louisiana!

March 1st, 1953, Marvin Marmande Sr. and R.E. Lee established M & L Tractor Company as a Ford tractor and New Holland hay equipment dealership, the first of its kind in Terrebonne Parish. The dealership offered only one Ford tractor model and one New Holland baler, rake and mower model and was located on the corner of Barrow and Verret Streets. It soon outgrew the facility and in 1959 moved to a new building at 1203 St. Charles Street, across from its present home office at 1210 St. Charles Street!

One of the next changes for the company was in 1962 when M & L Engine Company was formed. In 1967, the engine company moved into its own building adjacent to the main office, M & L Engine was separated into a separate company in 1994. In 1967, Marvin Marmande became the sole owner of M & L Industries upon the death of R.E. Lee.

M & L Industries Today

Today, over 64 years later, our customer-driven company has grown to become a multi-million dollar business with four locations in Houma, Baton Rouge, Broussard and Metairie that offer several brands of equipment. With over 108 employees offering sales, lease and rental equipment, all with a commitment to quality, service and products, M & L Industries has proven itself as one of the highest rated, affordable equipment specialists in the state.

Not only do we offer service on the equipment we sell, but also on a variety of other brands. We also offer “Fleet Trax” where a customer can easily see the history of a piece of their equipment from tune-ups, service, minor repairs and major repairs.

We are committed to providing 24-hour parts and repair service seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our ability to get a fully-trained service technician to a job site as quickly as possible minimizes down time for our customer.
